Savory tartlet with mustard and tomato

"Botta in testa

Ingredients 4 persons

2 large tomatoes

Oregano

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

2. Defrost the slices of puff pastry and then 'glue' them together with some water. Form a square on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Or grease a round low form and make a nice not high pie crust out of the puff pastry slices.

3. Using a fork, make holes in the bottom and make sure the sides are slightly raised.

4. Spread the bottom with the mustard. If necessary, use some extra mustard.

5. If you want to add cheese: sprinkle some old cheese over the mustard now.

6. Cut the tomatoes into thin slices and arrange them in a circle or in rows (when using the square or rectangular shape).

7. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and finally the oregano.

8. Place the cake in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes. The edges should be well browned. If they are already brown, take them out. If not: leave it out for another 2-3 minutes.

👉🏽 Je kunt hier allerlei variaties op bedenken. Probeer naast tomaten ook eens schijfjes olijven. Of doe er gebakken paprikareepjes bij. Houd het vooral simpel.

Nice to know

This recipe was given to me by my dear friend Cristina. We travelled a lot together for years. If we were in the Netherlands and had been out and about, we wanted to eat something with a spicy taste the day after. According to Cristina, this 'slap in the face' (botta in testa) was really necessary to get fit again. And yes, it worked.
